Refuge Bay Garbage Barge - gone forever !!

The Garbage Barge in Refuge Bay has been permanently removed due to abuse by unscrupulous boaties !!
Contrary to its pupose of providing boaties with a convenient place to deposit normal day-to-day galley rubbish, it was also being used by some unscupulous folk to dump hazardous prducts such as engine oils, old paint, and even more alarming, asbestos.
It was therefore becoming an environmental hazard in its own right. Add to this the $80,000 it was costing each year to provide the service, it became clear that the permanent removal of the barge was the most sensible option.
